Required CE Hours for Renewal
NOTE: You may take any approved course without regard to the type of license you hold.
Producers
- Complete a minimum of 24 continuing education (CE) credit hours during each license term. Licensees must also complete a minimum of 3 hours of ethics CE training every license term as a part of the requirements.
Service Representative
- Complete a minimum of 12 continuing education (CE) credit hours during each license term. Licensees must also complete a minimum of 2 hours of ethics CE training every license term as a part of the requirements.
Adjusters
- Complete a minimum of 24 continuing education (CE) classroom credit hours during each license term. Licensees must also complete a minimum of 3 hours of ethics CE training every license term as a part of the requirements.
- Born in Odd-numbered Years, Renewal in 2013
- Individual licensees licensed in this state as independent adjusters are NOT required to complete any educational requirements with the renewal of license.
- Born in Even-numbered Years, Renewal in 2014 and thereafter
- Individual licensees licensed in this state as an independent adjuster and not exempt shall complete a minimum of 24 continuing education classroom credit hours. Licensees must also complete a minimum of 3 hours of independent adjuster ethics CE training every license term as a part of the requirements.
- Born in Odd-numbered Years, Renewal in 2015 and thereafter
- Individual licensees licensed in this state as an independent adjuster and not exempt shall complete a minimum of 24 continuing education classroom credit hours. Licensees must also complete a minimum of 3 hours of independent adjuster ethics or business practices CE training every license term as a part of the requirements.
Title Agents
- Complete a minimum of 24 continuing education (CE) classroom credit hours during each license term. Licensees must also complete a minimum of 3 hours of ethics CE training every license term as a part of the requirements.
- Born in Even-numbered Years, Renewal in 2014
- Individual licensees licensed in this state shall complete a minimum of 12 continuing education classroom credit hours. Licensees must also complete a minimum of 2 hours of ethics CE training every license term as a part of the requirements.
- Born in Odd-numbered Years, Renewal in 2015 and thereafter
- Individual licensees licensed in this state shall complete a minimum of 24 continuing education classroom credit hours. Licensees must also complete a minimum of 3 hours of ethics CE training every license term as a part of the requirements.
- Licensees Born in Even-numbered Years, Renewal in 2016 and thereafter
- Individual licensees licensed in this state shall complete a minimum of 24 continuing education classroom credit hours. Licensees must also complete a minimum of 3 hours of ethics CE training every license term as a part of the requirements.

Special Training/Education Requirements
Ethics Training
- All producers must complete at least a 3-hour credit training course approved by the Alabama Department of Insurance.
- All service representatives must complete at least a 2-hour credit training course approved by the Alabama Department of Insurance.
- All adjusters and title agents must complete at least a 3-hour classroom credit training course, except title agents who's born in odd-numbered years and renews in 2014 or thereafter, must complete at least a 2-hour classroom credit training course approved by the Alabama Department of Insurance.
Annuity Training
- A producer who engages in the sale of annuity products shall complete at least a 4-hour credit annuity training course approved by the Alabama Department of Insurance.
Long Term Care Training
- A producer who engages in the sale of LTC products shall complete at least an 8-hour credit LTC training course approved by the Alabama Department of Insurance. In addition, the producer must complete at least a 4-hour credit LTC training course each renewal period thereafter.
Flood Insurance Training
- Insurance producers who sell flood insurance must complete at least a one-time 3-hour credit training course on the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

Exemptions
- Non-residents of reciprocal states who have met the home state's CE requirements.
- Any producer whose license is LIMITED to acting only as a producer for credit insurance, crop, portable electronic, travel, motor club, dental services, and legal services, self storage for any of the above combination.
- Newly licensed producers, adjusters or title insurance agents licensed within 12 months of the renewal date.

- The Alabama Department of Insurance (ALDOI) issues insurance licenses for two-year terms. The license term begins on the licensees birth month, whether the individual was born in an EVEN or ODD year.

Final Exam
- The Final Exam is closed-book and requires a monitor/proctor. A monitor/proctor must be a disinterested third party, at least (18) years of age, who has no corporate, employment or personal relationship, or other interest in the student's performance on the examination. Students may not use course material or outside help of any kind to answer the test questions.
- You must receive a score of 70% or better to pass the exam.
- You will be given the opportunity to retake the exam if a passing score is not received.

Certificate of Completion
Certificates of completion are available immediately after passing your exam by logging into your account and navigating to your Course History.

How are Hours Reported
FastrackCE reports your credits the next business day except holidays to SBS (State Based Systems). The state recognizes the date you passed/completed the exam as the date of completion. It is not based upon the day we report the hours to them.

Courses can only be repeated for continuing education credit if the completion dates are in a different license term.
