24 hours of approved continuing education must be completed during each
continuing education biennium.
Of the 24 hours of coninuing education course 6 hours of the CE courses must be completed
in the line of authority of the licensee, with the exception of adjusters who may take all
courses in Property and Casualty.
Of the 24 hours, at least 3 hours of credit must be specifically approved
as Ethics.
Life Settlement
24 hours of approved continuing education must be completed during each
continuing education biennium which must include 3 hours of ethics, 3 hours of life
settlement, and 3 hours of life insurance every renewal period.
Special Training/Education Requirements (LTC, Flood, Ethics, others)
Long Term Care -LTC
Agents wishing to sell Long Term Care are required to take a one time only 8 hour Department of Insurance certified course
Each license term thereafter each agent must complete a 4 hour Long Term Care Partnership CE course that is approved by the department.
Flood Insurance Training
An insurance producer who sells flood insurance may satisfy the minimum training
and education requirements by completing a 3-hour course related to the National Flood
Insurance Program (NFIP).
If born in an even year license renews on the last day of your birth
month every even year. If born in an odd year license renews on the
last day of your birth month every odd year.
ADJUSTERS: Your first CE compliance date is July 31, 2012 if you have had your license for at least a year. Then the same license term
Limited lines licensees: Limited Line Credit, Travel, Crop,
Surety
Agents who receive their license less than one full year before
the end of their current continuing education biennium. (But, these agents are
not exempt from the next biennium and thereafter.)
Agents who are nonresident and have complied with all the CE requirements in their home state.
Up to 12 CE credits can be carried over, however this does not apply to the ethics
requirement. Extra ethics credits will be used as general credits only.
Certificates of completion are available as soon as a course is completed with a passing
grade. Certificates should be printed and kept on file for 3 years.
A copy of the certificate should be sent to the Department of Insurance within 30 days of completing the course.
