Florida Advanced Thinking about the Personal Auto Policy

CE Course description

Every state in the U.S. has a law requiring people who drive to have a minimum level of auto insurance. But, even if the law didn’t require it, an intelligent driver would still want to have some auto coverage. Driving a car or truck is risky business. (And that doesn’t even touch on the danger of driving a motorcycle!) Each year, more than 6 million motor vehicle accidents occur on our nation’s roadways, accounting for almost 43,000 deaths, according to the Federal Highway Administration.

The most common standardized policy for insuring personal vehicles is the Personal Auto Policy (PAP), developed by the Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO), although some insurers, such as State Farm and Allstate, use their own forms.

ISO filed a new countrywide Personal Auto program with an effective date of September 1, 2018 in all jurisdictions except Hawaii, North Carolina, and Puerto Rico. This course provides an explanation of how the program will change in 2018. It also gives you the information you need to explain the new and revised endorsements to give your clients expert help in choosing the coverage they need.

This course is intended for the practicing insurance professional. However, newly licensed professional will also need to be familiar with ISO’s 2018 program changes. In this course, we review some of the fundamental concepts to refresh your memory about some of the coverage details you might have forgotten and we cover the changes to the Personal Auto Policy form and current endorsements, as well as covering the endorsements that will become effective on September 1, 2018.
